Magnetic Door Lock Troubleshooting
Here are the main troubleshooting methods you can use to tackle the most common magnetic door lock points of failure.

If not adjust the magnet out to the door or remove the plate on the door and pack it out with card or paper. Ensure doors are hung on sturdy frames and well aligned making sure the door fits the frame and that the door closer is not too tight or badly fitted. The strength of the magnetic force holding the door closed will depend on how the coil is wound.
If this doesn t happen check the wiring connection between the exit button and the magnetic lock. To troubleshoot the electromagnetic lock that won t open during verification follow the steps below. If it works properly under this test you need to adjust the door so. Connect a push button on the adaptec controller to test whether the em lock can open when the push button is pressed.
Similar to door closer issues door alignment issues can wreak havoc on any door hardware including mag locks. Mis aligned doors also put undue stress on the hardware. This causes vibrations that could be impacting the mag lock. The maglock doesn t release the door by pushing the exit button.
First check for voltage at the lock if voltage is present and the door is not locked then the lock is the problem. Hold a piece of paper up against the magnet side close the door gently and see if it traps the paper. When power is interrupted using an exit button the magnetic lock must release the door. The mis alignment can cause the door to grind on either the frame or the floor.
You can determine if this is the issue by applying pressure on the door so the lock latch is not pushing against the strike gate and then actuating the electric lock.
