Making Pine Countertops

I was so tempted to make a countertop out of painted mdf by the way.
Making pine countertops. Soft wood will mark easily and be less durable over time. Ash hard maple cherry mahogany oak walnut and teak are all hardwoods. I am currently restoring an old railroad station that was originally built as the daytona beach east coast station sometime in the late 1800 s. Pine is a soft wood that is commonly used with furniture but you may want to choose yellow pine over white pine if you are opting to use a softer wood.
Oak is the most common material for making furniture. 5 inches times 5 boards comes out to 25 inch depth for the countertop. You could also rip down the boards on a table saw if need be to get them to the right size. Two layers of 3 4 inch mdf glued together primed and sanded super smooth painted a bright and fun color and coated with a high gloss pourable bar top epoxy.
All boards are like this 2 x 4 s are actually 1 5 x 3 5 etc so when we cut them down by 1 4 inch on each side that equaled 1 2 inch per board which brought it down to 5 inches per board. It was torn d. 24 inch cabinets and a 1 inch overhang.
